Application Packaging Engineer

Job Summary

To support enterprise Windows application packaging and deployment for a large federal environment, the full-time remote Application Packaging Engineer will manage the full lifecycle of application packaging, collaborating with stakeholders to develop reliable packaging solutions and ensuring seamless integration within the Department of Veterans Affairs' IT environment.

Key responsibilities

• Build and validate silent installation packages in MSI, MST, and MSIX formats, conducting initial installation testing on Windows 11
• Engage with internal customers to gather packaging requirements and translate them into scalable technical documentation and solutions
• Troubleshoot packaging and deployment issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions efficiently

Required qualifications

• 4-6+ years of hands-on application packaging experience, particularly with Flexera AdminStudio
• Deep familiarity with Windows Installer technology, including custom actions and transforms
• Experience troubleshooting packaging issues using ProcMon, MSI logging, and Windows Event Logs
• Knowledge of PowerShell and/or CMD scripting
• U.S. Citizen with the ability to achieve Public Trust Clearance at the Department of Veterans Affairs
