Application Security Specialist

Job Summary

Providing part-time, project-based support, the Application Security Specialist will ensure the security of a new public-sector web-based data management application by reviewing architecture, security configurations, and conducting vulnerability assessments, primarily in a remote capacity for approximately 80 hours over 3-6 months.

Key Responsibilities

• Review application architecture and security configurations for compliance with project requirements
• Provide security guidance during the design and development of the Microsoft-based web application and SQL Server database
• Perform application vulnerability scanning, security testing, and assist in the remediation of identified vulnerabilities

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in application security, cybersecurity, or secure software development
• Hands-on experience evaluating the security of web-based applications
• Experience with application security controls, including authentication, RBAC, and encryption
• Experience performing vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of web applications
• Knowledge of NIST security controls/frameworks, particularly NIST SP 800-53
