Application Sustainment Lead

Job Summary

Providing strategic and operational leadership, the full-time Application Sustainment Lead will oversee Tier 3 sustainment activities for a mission-critical application modernization program, ensuring existing applications remain secure and available, while working in a hybrid environment based in Reston, VA.

Key responsibilities

• Lead Tier 3 sustainment operations across a portfolio of production applications to ensure operational continuity and service reliability
• Establish and maintain necessary documentation and reporting to support milestone acceptance, including issue registers and release calendars
• Manage cross-functional technical teams and coordinate efforts to resolve technical issues effectively

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in application sustainment or engineering management for Federal production systems handling sensitive data
• Demonstrated experience leading Tier 3 technical support and sustainment teams across multiple applications
• Strong understanding of change-control processes, application release management, and production operations
• Hands-on experience with Jira and ServiceNow for issue tracking and operational coordination
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional technical teams and maintain effective customer relationships
