Job Summary
Supporting the United States Geological Survey (USGS) National Geospatial Technical Operations Center, the full-time remote Applications Engineer - JavaScript will enhance and maintain public-facing applications using JavaScript and AWS technologies to improve functionality, troubleshoot issues, and automate cloud-based data workflows.
Key responsibilities
- Enhance and maintain existing applications to improve functionality and user experience
- Utilize AWS technologies to support and automate cloud-based data processing workflows
- Collaborate within a technical environment to troubleshoot issues and develop efficient solutions
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field + 2 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in JavaScript with a focus on clean, efficient, and maintainable code
- Hands-on experience with AWS SDK and AWS CLI, including services like Lambda, S3, and EC2
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including version control and debugging
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop practical solutions for technical challenges
