Applied Research Scientist

Job Summary

To support the development of a foundational housing market model, the full-time remote Applied Research Scientist will build demand representations from large-scale shopper behavior data, design and train advanced models for market dynamics, and provide technical leadership in translating research into practical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Build the demand layer of the World Model by structuring shopper behavior data into demand representations
• Design and train models that support multi-step planning and evaluate market dynamics
• Drive research projects independently while mentoring team members and ensuring technical excellence

Required qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field
• Experience building latent state-space or world models with calibrated uncertainty
• Ability to convert large-scale user behavior data into structured demand representations
• Practical experience in causal inference in observational settings
• Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow
