Job Summary
To support passport demand forecasting for the Department of State, the remote Applied Statistician will develop and refine statistical models, apply forecasting methods, and conduct simulations to analyze demand drivers and uncertainties.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain statistical, econometric, and time series models to forecast passport demand
- Apply various forecasting methods and conduct simulations to evaluate uncertainty and potential future outcomes
- Analyze historical demand and other relevant data to improve model performance and accuracy
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative discipline
- Experience in statistical analysis, forecasting, econometrics, or predictive modeling
- Strong knowledge of regression, time series analysis, and model validation techniques
- Proficiency with statistical tools such as Python, R, Stata, SAS, or MATLAB
- Ability to independently structure and solve complex quantitative problems
