Associate Director of Computational Biology

Job Summary

To lead and grow a multidisciplinary team focused on applied scientific research and biomedical data stewardship, the full-time remote Associate Director of Computational Biology will establish scientific direction, data management standards, and community engagement practices while ensuring data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead biomedical data science initiatives by applying statistical, bioinformatic, and computational biology methods to enhance data usability and scientific value
• Oversee the curation and lifecycle management of biomedical datasets in alignment with FAIR principles and partner with compliance teams for data governance
• Build and sustain a community of researchers through engagement programs and external collaboration, while managing and developing a multidisciplinary team

Required Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a relevant scientific, data, or informatics discipline, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of progressive experience in scientific research, biomedical data management, or data governance
• 3+ years of experience managing and mentoring data managers or computational biologists
• Track record of securing research funding, including competitive NIH awards
• Experience applying open science and FAIR data principles in collaborative environments
