Authorization Specialist

Job Summary

Submitting initial authorization requests to assigned payers, the full-time Authorization Specialist will manage follow-ups, ensure timely approvals, and communicate with patients and insurance plans in a fully remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Submit authorization requests for Home Infusion Therapy and oversee follow-up on pending requests
• Review authorization approvals and denials, initiating the appeal process as necessary
• Document all communications and maintain records of authorizations in patient charts while adhering to HIPAA guidelines

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in a medical office or patient contact role
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Preferred background in medical reimbursement and authorization submission
• Knowledge of insurance plan requirements and medical terminology
