Automation Expert
Job Summary
To support an automotive manufacturing environment, the contract-to-hire Automation Expert will evaluate material handling automation and develop recommendations for technologies such as AMRs and AGVs, with a focus on onsite work in Detroit, MI, and occasional visits to Kansas City, MO.
Key responsibilities
- Recommend appropriate material handling technologies and define fleet sizing, storage-density assumptions, and throughput constraints
- Develop alternative automation concepts and compare operational tradeoffs for material handling systems
- Recommend physical equipment configurations suitable for simulation and Digital Twin scenario analysis
Required qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in automotive logistics and material handling equipment automation
- Experience with ASRS design or evaluation and AMR/AGV deployment projects
- Proven track record in leading or supporting the selection and evaluation of material handling automation systems
- Comfortable working with incomplete planning inputs and making defensible recommendations
- Experience in highly automated manufacturing or distribution environments
