Job Summary
Leading underwriting operations and strategy, the full-time remote AVP of Underwriting will develop a high-performing team, enhance underwriting practices, and support profitable growth across medical stop loss and level-funded business while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and optimize underwriting team operations to ensure high productivity, quality, and service standards
- Develop and implement underwriting strategies that align with division goals and financial targets
- Evaluate underwritten risks and communicate findings through actionable reporting to drive business decisions
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, economics, risk management and insurance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 13 years of underwriting or related experience, including at least six years in a leadership role
- Proven ability to lead underwriting operations and develop talent effectively
- Strong knowledge of risk evaluation, pricing, and regulatory compliance
- Experience in group health, medical stop loss, or level-funded plans is strongly preferred
