Back End Engineer
Job Summary
To support a growing portfolio of federal contracts, the full-time Back End Engineer will develop, test, and maintain secure back-end services for VA web applications, focusing on API development, data storage, and system reliability in a fully remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain secure back-end services that support VA web applications and digital forms
- Build APIs for form logic, submission handling, and integration with VA systems and third-party platforms
- Contribute to platform-wide improvements in form infrastructure, data storage, and automation
Required qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in back-end engineering (Rails, Python, or similar)
- Experience with RESTful API development and microservices architecture
- Familiarity with AWS (especially GovCloud) or other cloud infrastructure
- Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or similar)
- Bachelor's degree
