Back End Engineer
Job Summary
To support a growing portfolio of federal contracts, the fully remote Back End Engineer will develop, test, and maintain secure back-end services for VA web applications, focusing on API development and system integration.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain secure back-end services, including building APIs for form logic and submission handling
- Contribute to platform-wide improvements in data storage, accessibility compliance, and automation
- Support devops practices, documentation, and ensure backend systems are reliable and performant at scale
Required qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in back-end engineering (Rails, Python, or similar)
- Experience with RESTful API development and microservices architecture
- Familiarity with AWS (especially GovCloud) or other cloud infrastructure
- Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or similar)
- Bachelor's degree
