Backend Engineer
Job Summary
Building and operating the backend for mobile apps and IoT devices, the full-time Backend Engineer II will utilize Java and Python REST APIs, AWS IoT, and DevOps practices while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote environment across the U.S. and Canada.
Key responsibilities
- Design and deliver backend features and fixes using the Spring Boot + Hibernate stack
- Own a backend area, leading the design and delivery of projects while troubleshooting production issues
- Contribute to system design discussions and improve monitoring and alerting tools
Required qualifications
- 3-5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong skills in JVM languages
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful JSON APIs in production
- Proficiency in distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and monitoring tools (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins)
- Ability to write automated tests and a commitment to Continuous Deployment
- Strong desire for code simplicity and maintainability, with a collaborative spirit
