Backend Engineer
Job Summary
Building and operating email transport infrastructure, the full-time Backend Engineer will work remotely to enhance SMTP delivery systems, develop throttling mechanisms, and improve delivery outcome classifications while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Resend's email transport infrastructure, focusing on SMTP delivery and routing systems
- Design and implement systems for throttling at various levels, including domain and customer levels
- Participate in incident response and be on-call for critical services related to sending and deliverability issues
Required qualifications
- Strong backend engineering experience, particularly with high-volume delivery systems
- Familiarity with SMTP, MTAs, DNS, and mailbox-provider behavior
- Understanding of distributed systems, including queues, retries, and rate limits
- Experience or strong interest in email best practices
- Proficiency in Typescript and Golang is preferred
