Job Summary
Owning the storage and query engine for a data lake, the full-time Backend Engineer will manage ingestion pipelines, indexing, and multi-tenant isolation while ensuring performance and correctness in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the storage layer of the observability data lake, including ingestion pipelines and tiering across storage types
- Enhance the query engine through distributed planning, execution, and performance optimizations
- Design and implement multi-tenant isolation and correctness measures to ensure system reliability and efficiency
Required qualifications
- Deep hands-on experience with distributed data systems such as databases, stream processors, or query engines
- Fluency in the fundamentals of distributed systems, including consensus, replication, and consistency models
- Proficiency in Go or Java with production-level experience
- Strong performance measurement skills, including profiling and analyzing system behavior
- Experience operating and maintaining the systems you build, including on-call responsibilities
