Job Summary
Taking full ownership of the Django backend and production infrastructure, the remote Backend Engineer will review and improve code, build backend features, and ensure platform stability and security for a growing global user base.
Key responsibilities
- Own the Python/Django backend by reviewing, improving, and developing code while collaborating with the founder
- Manage the Hetzner Linux server, including deployments, software updates, and server security
- Investigate backend issues, resolve incidents, and enhance performance to maintain platform reliability
Required qualifications
- Strong production experience with Python and Django for backend development
- Proficient in PostgreSQL/SQL, including query optimization and migrations
- Hands-on experience with Linux server administration and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with REST APIs, background jobs, and task queues such as Celery or RabbitMQ
- Comfortable using Git, conducting code reviews, and ensuring safe deployments
