Backend Engineer (PHP/Symfony)
Job Summary
To solve complex backend problems and improve performance at scale, the mid/senior Backend Engineer (PHP/Symfony) will develop and maintain backend features, REST APIs, and third-party integrations for a SaaS platform, working remotely or onsite in Estonia.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend features and REST APIs while optimizing existing PHP/Symfony code
- Investigate performance issues and enhance database queries to ensure platform reliability
- Collaborate with engineers, QA, DevOps, and product managers to deliver effective solutions
Required qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with PHP and Symfony in production applications
- Good understanding of PostgreSQL or other relational databases
- Experience developing REST APIs and working with external services
- Solid knowledge of OOP, application design, and clean coding practices
- Proficiency in spoken and written English, plus either Estonian or Russian
