Backend Software Engineer

Job Summary

Focused on building a world-class backend platform, the full-time Backend Software Engineer will design systems, databases, and APIs while working in a hybrid environment based in Portland, Oregon.

Key Responsibilities

• Design service boundaries, data models, and REST API contracts to ensure backward compatibility and clean error contracts
• Implement event-driven microservices and a webhook-triggered survey automation engine using GCP Pub/Sub
• Develop resilient and observable services with integrated security and access control systems for enterprise clients

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java at the JVM level, including understanding concurrency and memory management
• Deep knowledge of Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem or equivalent dependency injection frameworks
• Strong SQL skills with experience in data modeling and query optimization
• Experience in API design with a focus on versioning, error semantics, and idempotency
• Background in building systems that handle real load and consider failure modes in design
