Job Summary
Joining a collaborative team, the remote Backend Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain backend systems and APIs for the LabArchives suite of products, primarily using Node.js, while contributing to a Ruby on Rails codebase and enhancing automation testing frameworks.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with product, operations, and support teams to design and maintain backend services and APIs
- Iteratively plan, build, test, and release new backend features primarily in Node.js
- Create and maintain a robust unit test suite and participate in code reviews and security audits
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 9+ years of experience in backend and database development
- Strong server-side development experience with Node.js, including building and maintaining APIs
- Hands-on experience with Ruby, preferably with Ruby on Rails
- Familiarity with database design, query optimization, and data modeling
