Bioinformatics Specialist

Job Summary

To support innovative research projects, the full-time Associate Bioinformatics Specialist will apply computer and information science to the analysis and visualization of complex biological data, develop custom software and databases, and collaborate with department personnel in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Consult on various research projects under the supervision of the department director
• Perform data analysis, visualization, and interpretation while collaborating with department personnel
• Develop databases for organized entry, reliable storage, and efficient retrieval of complex data

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree; experience may substitute for minimum education requirements
• 0-1 year experience in bioinformatics science and technology, particularly with sequencing data
• Broad knowledge of statistical analysis, computer algorithms, and programming
• Experience using UNIX/LINUX and high-performance computing
• Familiarity with R or similar statistical languages and basic knowledge of Python or Perl
