Breast Cancer Peer Advocate

Job Summary

To support Black LGBTQ+ individuals at risk for or affected by breast cancer, the part-time Breast Cancer Peer Advocate will co-lead monthly support groups, conduct outreach, and connect participants with resources, primarily working remotely with some in-person responsibilities in the Chicagoland area.

Key responsibilities

• Co-plan and co-facilitate monthly support-group sessions for Black women navigating breast cancer
• Serve as a visible peer leader and ambassador for breast cancer prevention efforts within the community
• Collaborate with the Community Health Worker and other stakeholders to identify needs and enhance program visibility

Required qualifications

• Lived experience as a Black cis or trans woman navigating breast cancer risk or survivorship strongly preferred
• Deep commitment to social justice, anti-racism, and health equity
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish trust with participants
• Experience with community organizing, peer support, or health education preferred
• Comfort using technology such as Google Workspace and Zoom for remote work
