Business Unit Controller

Job Summary

To support the financial operations of multiple software business units, the remote Business Unit Controller will oversee accounting and financial reporting, lead closing processes, and provide strategic insights to drive performance and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting and financial reporting activities for assigned business unit(s), ensuring compliance with policies and accounting standards
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including revenue recognition and preparation of financial statements
• Partner with business leaders to develop key financial metrics and provide variance analyses to inform business decisions

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred
• 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3 years in the software industry
• Strong understanding of SaaS financial metrics and revenue recognition principles
• Proficiency in accounting systems such as Sage Intacct or NetSuite, along with strong Excel and financial modeling skills
• Demonstrated success in building teams and developing staff in a fast-paced, remote environment
