Job Summary
Seeking a full-time remote California Certified Coder, the position focuses on reviewing and coding acute hospital outpatient emergency department, medical oncology, and adult outpatient rehab patient records to ensure accurate diagnosis and procedure coding in compliance with guidelines.
Key responsibilities
- Abstracts and assigns diagnosis and procedure codes from various patient records for billing and reimbursement
- Audits medical records to ensure compliance with federal and state coding regulations
- Collaborates with departmental leadership to provide coding feedback and education regarding documentation
Required qualifications
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
- AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS): Required
- Three years of coding experience in outpatient ED, medical oncology, or adult outpatient rehab: Preferred
- Experience in an acute care setting: Preferred
- Maintain appropriate credential related to essential job assignment: CCS or CPC or COC: Required
