California Licensed Autism Physician
Job Summary
To support Medicaid healthcare programs, the full-time remote California Licensed Autism Physician will evaluate complex behavioral health cases, assess medical necessity, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure access to evidence-based treatment options for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for ASD and ABA therapy across Medicaid programs
- Conduct clinical evaluations of authorization requests, appeals, and medical necessity reviews
- Review clinical documentation and treatment plans to ensure alignment with evidence-based criteria
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
- Active, unrestricted California Medical License
- Board Certification in Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics, Neurology, or a related specialty
- Minimum of 5 years of post-residency clinical experience treating individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Prior experience with Medicaid programs and familiarity with utilization management processes
