Job Summary

Leading the intellectual property strategy for a technology company, the full-time California Licensed Intellectual Property Counsel will oversee a team of IP professionals, manage patent and trademark portfolios, and provide strategic legal guidance to various stakeholders in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead global IP strategy, including patent filing, prosecution, and portfolio management
• Oversee the Product Counsel function to ensure legal input is integrated throughout product lifecycle processes
• Advise on legal issues related to AI and data-driven products, ensuring compliance and responsible innovation

Required qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• Minimum of 12+ years of relevant legal experience, particularly in intellectual property and product counseling
• Strong knowledge of IP law, including patent prosecution and open-source compliance
• Technical fluency in software, data analytics, AI, or cloud technologies preferred
• Experience in leading global IP strategy and managing patent and trademark portfolios
