Job Summary
Leading the intellectual property strategy for a technology company, the full-time remote California Licensed Intellectual Property Counsel will oversee a team of IP professionals, manage patent and trademark portfolios, and provide legal guidance on product development and compliance across various teams.
Key responsibilities
- Lead global IP strategy, including patent filing and portfolio management, aligned with business priorities
- Oversee the Product Counsel function, ensuring legal input is integrated into product lifecycle processes
- Advise on legal issues related to AI and data-driven products, promoting responsible innovation and compliance
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 12+ years of relevant legal experience, particularly in intellectual property and product counseling
- Strong knowledge of IP law, including patent prosecution, trademarks, copyrights, and open-source compliance
- Technical fluency in software, data analytics, AI, or cloud technologies is strongly preferred
- Experience in building scalable legal processes and managing IP program tools for efficiency
