Job Summary
Leading the intellectual property strategy for a technology company, the full-time California Licensed Intellectual Property Counsel will oversee a team of IP professionals, manage global IP portfolios, and provide strategic legal guidance on product development and compliance in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the global IP strategy, managing patents, trademarks, and copyrights while advising on competitive risks and licensing
- Oversee the Product Counsel function, ensuring legal input is integrated throughout the product lifecycle
- Advise on legal issues related to AI and data-driven products, ensuring compliance and responsible innovation practices
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 12+ years of relevant legal experience with significant IP and product counseling experience in a technology environment
- Demonstrated experience in leading global IP strategy and managing patent and trademark portfolios
- Technical fluency in software, data analytics, AI, or cloud technologies is strongly preferred
- Experience building scalable legal processes and governance frameworks for improved efficiency and risk management
