California Licensed Payroll Manager

Job Summary

To drive strategic and operational initiatives in workforce growth and payroll compliance, the remote California Licensed Payroll Manager will manage Workday Payroll and Absence Management systems, support process improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams while ensuring accurate payroll operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead payroll operations and compliance, maintaining Workday configurations and conducting audits for data integrity
• Oversee Workday Payroll administration, implementing system enhancements and troubleshooting complex issues
• Engage with vendors and stakeholders to support payroll initiatives and manage direct reports in program delivery

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Organizational Development, People Operations, or related field; professional experience may substitute
• Minimum of five years of progressive Payroll experience within HR departments, including multi-site operations
• At least three years leading people programs or operational initiatives
• In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations and experience with Workday components such as Payroll and Absence Management
• Proven ability to manage projects independently and effectively build relationships across teams
