Job Summary
Leading the legal function for the retail store real estate portfolio, the remote Sr Director, Sr Real Estate Counsel will manage lease transactions across the U.S. and Canada, supervise a team of Real Estate Counsel, and ensure compliance with company standards while driving store growth initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee all legal aspects of lease transactions, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial leases and related agreements
- Manage and coach the Real Estate Counsel team, ensuring quality and timely delivery of work products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support real estate transactions and advise on lease disputes and landlord issues
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Membership in good standing with at least one U.S. State Bar
- 10+ years of legal experience in commercial real estate, particularly in retail leasing
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating and closing commercial leases and related agreements
- Proficiency with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools and lease administration systems is a plus
