Seeking an entrepreneurial California Licensed Senior Mortgage Underwriter for a full-time hybrid role who will underwrite residential mortgage files, manage complex loan conditions, and collaborate with internal teams to enhance automated decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite residential mortgage files across Conventional, Jumbo, Non-QM, and Government products, ensuring adherence to guidelines
- Issue and clear accurate conditions promptly to minimize reconditioning and submission delays
- Conduct 2nd level reviews and manage escalations to maintain quality control and compliance
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of underwriting experience with diverse loan types, including Conventional, Jumbo, Non-QM, and Government
- Experience in a fintech environment focused on mortgage products is strongly preferred
- Expert-level knowledge of mortgage lending processes and regulatory guidelines
- Ability to operate within a highly regulated industry while optimizing for performance
- Strong understanding of compliance and quality assurance in underwriting practices
