California Licensed Surgical Coder

Job Summary

To support a high-quality medical care organization, the remote California Licensed Surgical Coder will perform accurate and timely coding using ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for patients, ensuring optimal reimbursement and compliance with coding regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-10-CM and CPT codes accurately and timely for surgical procedures
• Maintains knowledge of coding regulations and implements guidelines for multi-specialty surgical practices
• Identifies coding trends and issues, presenting solutions to improve coding practices

Required qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
• Certified Orthopaedic Surgery Coder (COSC) certification preferred
• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in surgical coding within a healthcare setting
• Familiarity with ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 coding, and payment methodologies
