California Licensed SVP Underwriting

Job Summary

Leading the Excess & Surplus Lines property portfolio, the full-time California Licensed SVP Underwriting will optimize underwriting strategy, manage P&L, and build a high-performing team while working remotely from La Jolla, CA.

Key responsibilities

• Own the underwriting results and profitability of the E&S Property portfolio, developing a multi-year strategy
• Establish underwriting guidelines and oversee pricing, risk selection, and exposure management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers and identify new distribution opportunities

Required qualifications

• 15+ years of commercial property underwriting experience, with 8+ years in E&S/wholesale
• 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing underwriting teams and a P&L
• Deep knowledge of property coverages and CAT exposures, along with modeling tools
• Strong understanding of reinsurance structures and their impact on portfolio management
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management, or a related field
