California Licensed Underwriter

Job Summary

To support a growing team, the full-time California Licensed Underwriter will review and evaluate insurance applications, determine coverage levels and pricing, and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines while working in a hybrid environment out of Los Angeles or Carlsbad.

Key responsibilities

• Adhere to underwriting guidelines and execute pricing strategies to maintain profitability goals
• Approve or decline insurance applications and prepare referral submissions for risks exceeding authority limits
• Document underwriting files, including risk analysis and pricing justification, in accordance with established standards

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• 1-5 years of property and casualty underwriting or related insurance experience required
• CPCU, CIC, CRIS, or Property & Casualty Brokers License preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn industry-specific software quickly
• Willingness to work in a hybrid model from Los Angeles or Carlsbad office
