CERS Support Specialist
Job Summary
To support the USDA's MRP-ITD Laboratory and Scientific IT Directorate, the remote CERS Support Specialist will manage operations and maintenance of the Cotton and Tobacco Electronic Reporting System (CERS), providing COBOL programming services and technical leadership in a full-time capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leadership to develop IT strategies and recommend system enhancements
- Lead HP NonStop programming efforts, including COBOL85 and NonStop SQL database design
- Administer system installations, manage security, and provide technical support across multiple locations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in COBOL programming and HP NonStop environments
- Experience in gathering and analyzing customer requirements for IT development
- Proven ability to train and mentor staff and end-users
- Experience in diagnosing and resolving production application issues
- Familiarity with system compatibility and regulatory requirements in IT operations
