Job Summary
Translating medical narratives into accurate codes, the full-time Certified Coder II will perform coding for inpatient, outpatient, and complex medical records while maintaining high accuracy and productivity standards in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Reviews various medical accounts to assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes, ensuring documentation supports coding decisions
- Maintains a coding accuracy rating of at least 95% and meets productivity standards while coding medical records efficiently
- Reviews and resolves claim edits for billing purposes, making necessary corrections based on feedback from payers and auditors
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Formal education in ICD-9-CM/CPT coding, medical terminology, anatomy, pathophysiology, and disease processes
- At least 1 year of acute care coding experience or equivalent relevant experience
- Certification in Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
