Job Summary
To ensure compliant billing, the full-time HIM Certified Coder - Illinois will be responsible for accurate coding of hospital inpatient, outpatient, and professional fee encounters using ICD10/ICDPCS, CPT, and HCPCs codes while working remotely on a Monday-Friday schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately code all medical records according to ICD-10 and CPT classification systems, reflecting diagnoses and procedures
- Provide interdepartmental coding assistance and develop compliant coding methodologies using regulatory reference materials
- Facilitate external audit activities and maintain coding certification while serving as a resource for coding and billing staff
Required Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or other relevant coding certifications from AAPC or AHIMA
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Experience with electronic medical record systems
- Knowledge of regulatory coding guidelines and compliance standards
- Ability to conduct coding audits and assist with billing inquiries
