Job Summary
Seeking a part-time Certified Coding Consultant, the remote position will be responsible for reviewing medical records, assigning accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures, and maintaining coding accuracy while adhering to productivity standards.
Key responsibilities
- Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures
- Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel
- Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and meet site-designated productivity standards
Required qualifications
- AHIMA certified credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certified credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC)
- 2+ years of coding experience in a hospital and/or coding consulting role
- Proficiency in coding specialties such as Same Day Surgery, Observation, and Injections/Infusions
- Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding guidelines
