Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support the Corporate Revenue Cycle, the full-time remote Retrospective Appeals Coder will initiate the retrospective appeal process for coding denials, leveraging coding expertise and payor regulations to recover denied reimbursements.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist in determining system-wide coding needs by investigating retrospective denials and identifying root causes
• Formulate written appeal letters incorporating supportive documentation and ensure timely adherence to the appeal process
• Collaborate with coding management and payor organizations to maintain effective communication and relationships

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, or Registered Record Administrator (RAA) preferred
• 5 years of coding experience required
• Extensive knowledge of DRG/APC, ICD-9/10, CPT/HCPCS classifications and coding of diagnosis and procedures required
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) OR Registered Health Information Administrator OR Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required
• Prior appeal/grievance experience preferred
