Certified Hospital Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Certified Hospital Inpatient Coder will review inpatient medical records to assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, ICD-10-PCS procedure codes, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines while collaborating with clinical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews inpatient medical records and assigns accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
• Ensures compliance with coding guidelines and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner
• Collaborates with Clinical Documentation Improvement teams to optimize documentation and DRG assignment

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification
• Previous hospital coding experience
• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Experience using an encoder and EMR systems
