Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support a comprehensive healthcare network, the full-time Certified Inpatient Coder will review inpatient clinical documentation, assign diagnosis and procedure codes, and ensure compliance with coding standards while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and clinical disease processes to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes for complex accounts
• Analyzes medical records and assigns ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes using designated software and coding manuals
• Collaborates with clinical documentation specialists and other departments to ensure accurate DRG assignment for compliance and reimbursement

Required qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
• Two to three years of progressive on-the-job experience in an acute care hospital
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required and maintained thereafter
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, UHDDS, and various DRG methodologies
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and coding software
