Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support inpatient coding accuracy, the full-time Certified Inpatient Coder will assign diagnostic and procedure codes based on clinical documentation while working remotely during day shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes for inpatient hospital accounts in accordance with coding guidelines
• Coordinate with clinical documentation and quality teams to validate coding accuracy and support appropriate documentation
• Monitor work queues to ensure timely charging of all records and generate coding queries as needed

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience
• Certification as a Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or equivalent coding certification
• No prior experience required
• Ability to meet physical requirements including frequent lifting and data entry
• Knowledge of current coding conventions and updates
