Job Summary
Reviewing clinical documentation for accurate coding, the full-time Certified Inpatient Coder will assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for Facility Inpatient records, ensuring compliance and supporting billing and reimbursement processes in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Select and sequence ICD-10 CM and PCS codes for designated patient types, primarily Acute Facility Inpatient
- Review clinical records to ensure MS-DRG assignments accurately reflect documented diagnoses and procedures
- Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and participate in continuing education to uphold credentials
Required qualifications
- Active AHIMA or AAPC credential (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, COC, CCS-P, CPC)
- Two years of recent hands-on coding experience with Acute Inpatient records
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ICD-10 CM & PCS code sets
- Ability to code with 95% accuracy and quality while meeting production standards
- Proficient in basic MS Office applications, including data entry and email management
