Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, a Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) will be responsible for accurately coding inpatient medical records according to established guidelines and regulations while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews and assigns diagnostic ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for low to moderate complexity medical records
• Maintains up-to-date coding knowledge and skills through continuous education and adherence to ethical coding standards
• Collaborates with the Clinical Documentation Integrity Team and follows facility query policies

Required qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or related field (Required)
• Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) certification (Required upon hire)
• 1+ years of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding experience (Preferred)
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding guidelines (Required proficiency)
• Proficiency in using 3M encoder/Epic software and Microsoft Office suite (Required proficiency)
