Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare organization, the full-time hourly Certified Medical Coder will perform ICD10-CM coding of health assessments, review medical documentation for accuracy, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely in the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and validate ICD10-CM codes by reviewing medical records and ensuring compliance with payer and regulatory requirements
• Maintain coding accuracy and productivity, conducting data entry while collaborating with clinical teams to resolve discrepancies
• Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations, stay updated on coding requirements, and participate in coding audits for continuous improvement

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
• 1-3 years of professional coding experience in a healthcare setting
• Active certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent credential required
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and coding software systems
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines
