Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare organization, the full-time Certified Medical Coder will remotely code encounters for outpatient, emergency room, and professional services while ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to track un-coded charts and ensure accurate code assignment
• Assign ICD-10 CM/PCS codes and maintain medical record integrity through proper coding practices
• Report safety-related incidents and comply with state and federal regulations impacting coding responsibilities

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or Diploma Program preferred
• CPC/CCS/CCA/RHIT/RHIA/CPMA certification preferred for Coder 1 and required for Coder 2
• 1-2 years of coding experience preferred for Coder 1 and required for Coder 2
• Proficiency in procedure coding, diagnosis coding, medical terminology, and anatomy/physiology
• Ability to utilize computers and basic software programs effectively
