Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely on a PRN basis, the Certified Medical Coder will provide expert coding support by accurately assigning ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, ICD-10 PCS procedure codes, and CPT procedure codes while ensuring compliance with AMA and CMS guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Review medical records to determine appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes for complex cases, including inpatient coding
• Analyze and correct data integrity issues while abstracting pertinent patient information from the EHR
• Collaborate with the CDI for documentation improvement and maintain adherence to coding compliance standards

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Minimum of five (5) years of medical hospital coding and charging experience
• Certification as one of the following: CCS, CPC, CPC-H, COC, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT
