Job Summary

To support a remote healthcare environment, the Certified Medical Coder will accurately code medical records, including diagnoses and procedures, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations while working in a full-time capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Assigns and records accurate codes for all diagnoses and procedures in patient medical records based on official coding guidelines
• Contacts practice designees for clarification on diagnoses to ensure precise coding and compliance with regulatory standards
• Reports coding discrepancies and provides information on medical documentation and coding inquiries to maintain accuracy in coding practices

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
• Current coding certification (e.g., AHIMA, AAPC, or other accepted certification) is required
• Minimum of 3 years of professional coding experience, with specialty coding preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM codes, CPT, and HCPCS level II codes
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to compliance standards in a remote work environment
