Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

To ensure accurate coding and billing for maximum reimbursement, the remote Certified Medical Coder will perform concurrent reviews of FFS coding rules within Epic, working full-time Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.

Key responsibilities:

• Assign appropriate medical codes based on a thorough understanding of relevant coding subject areas and clinical documentation
• Generate queries for unclear or incomplete documentation and follow up with providers as necessary
• Resolve medical coding edits or denials and provide insights during coding quality audits

Required qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, RHIT, CCS)
• 1+ years of coding experience
• Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, Modifiers & HCPCS coding guidelines
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, disease processes, and anatomy and physiology
