Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support a growing medical coding team, the full-time Certified Medical Coder will review clinical documentation, apply appropriate ICD-10-CM codes for diagnoses and procedures, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines, while working remotely and maintaining a productivity standard of 95% accuracy or better.

Key responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to accurately apply ICD-10-CM codes
• Resolve billing-related errors and assist in workflow changes and process improvement projects
• Participate in quality review meetings and serve as a coding consultant to healthcare providers

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a certified coding program or graduation from a CAHIM accredited HIT program
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospital acute care coding, including Emergency and Outpatient procedures
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or other relevant coding certifications preferred
• Experience in multiple specialties such as OB/GYN, Urology, and Oncology is advantageous
