Job Summary
To support a dedicated Quality Coding team, the full-time Certified Medical Coding Specialist will ensure accurate coding, billing, and documentation by translating complex medical records into appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes while working remotely from specified states.
Key responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records to accurately assign ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with established guidelines
- Abstract and enter medical codes and demographic information into electronic systems while identifying and resolving documentation issues
- Collaborate with clinical staff to provide education on coding practices and participate in quality assurance and performance measurement initiatives
Required qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Medical Terminology is required
- Certified Coding Specialist (AHIMA) is preferred
- Extensive knowledge of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and relevant regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
- Commitment to ongoing education in coding and billing practices
